Cookies: All cookie incentives were handed out. Congratulations! We have the following cookies left—I have sold a bunch at work, and on my street. Would any of you want to buy these or be able to find them a home? I cannot afford to buy bigger pants, so please help! J
Samoas: 12 boxes
Dosidos: 4
Trefoils: 9
Thank you Berry Munch: 1

Pre-registration for next year: I have the forms and if we turn them in we get another Early Reg patch. I will hand these out as I see you, or send them to school with Molly.

Badge a thon: Next Tuesday, after school at my mom’s house. La Vista, 23595 N 77th Street. Molly, Rhea and Layla can ride the bus. Let me know if you want me to pick up Tiana, Roxy or Haydyn at school. ( I have Olivea and Ela not coming.) Please send the old t shirts for the vest pillows as emailed a while ago. Also if you have your fleece and need to finish the no sew blanket, bring that too.

WNBA Lockin: Many of the girls went last year, and it promises to be quite a night. June 12th, 6pm to 6am. They have put together a really great program. The girls will have great seats to the game, will get to see them warm up and will also get to participate in a sort of job fair. They will be talking about sports marketing and what kind of jobs they have. Internships, etc.
They will watch the game and then afterwards get to have a ton of fun. Makeovers in the suites. Pizza. The fun zones will be open for free use. Sleeping bags in one large room/area. Girls can either attend just the game or spend the night. Let me know as I need to register by next Friday, 5/3. We can also compete to design the patch! Let me know if your daughter wants to do the lockin or just the game or neither. Cost is covered by cookie money.

Girl Lock-In includes:
· Pregame Sports and Entertainment Career Fair
· Post-Game Girl Scout Only Lock-In with: Pizza and Soda, Movies on the Jumbo-tron
· Mercury Player Address
· Special Hip Hop Squad Performances
· Games on the Courts
· Beautiful -Confidence Makeovers in the Suites, and much more!
· Patch Included for Lock-in and Career Fair
Thoughts for Next year: I am sad to say that Sylvia, Roxy and Zoe are moving to California! I wish them happiness and success in their new adventure and will miss them greatly. I am thinking that we might try something new next year—I am thinking that we will assign meetings to individual mom/dads and girls. Each team would choose a meeting and would get to choose the badge activities and snack. I think this would be a great way to showcase all of our individual talents, skills and interests…We could also be flexible in our meetings. For those who work, we could meet in the evening or weekend. This might also save us a few dollars on meeting space. The school charges us $100 for the year for meetings….

We had a great meeting yesterday, but sadly, our Barbie sewing machine was not functioning. :) We worked on our sewing badge and try-its. I would like to ask the girls and you to make the no sew fleece blanket. This will count for one hour of service on the Inchworm chart. Instructions are in the links section. The brownies should finish their button picture and punch holes in their bird pictures and sew them with yarn. The t shirt vest pillow instructions are in the links section too. Please let me know if you don't have access to a sewing machine and we will figure something out. All of these projects are pretty simple. The juniors will need to also practice some machine stitching and visit Joanns to look at different types of fabrics. Look at the Sewing badge in your badge book for all the details. And welcome to Ela!!!
Notes:
· Please have the girls write a letter to Nayaira, our soldier. We are behind, and if we all write one, I will stagger them so that she gets a steady stream. Also, I’d like to collect for another care package, so please send magazines, books, candy, granola bars, hygiene items. Thanks!
· Cookie booths this weekend—please sign up if you haven’t already.
· Check the calendar on the blogsite for upcoming activities.
· Badge review will be held at our next meeting. Some of the badges and try its to finish up:
Girl Scouting around the World (try it and badge) (Juniors did 1,3, and 7)
Sewing (try it and badge)
World Neighbors badge
Computer Smarts try it
Point and Click Try it
Cybergirl scouts Badge
Family Living Skills Badge (we did #1)

We have a meeting today, and we will also welcome a new member, Ela Wootton. She will be attending PPE next year, but wanted to get in this year, so welcome Ela and family! We will be working on our sewing badge and try-it today, and the girls will be bringing home projects to finish. I am also posting worksheets on our site to help complete badges/try-its. We will have a badge/try-it review at our next meeting.

Hi everyone—
I hope your girls came home happy from our meeting. We have been doing a lot of talking, and I am trying to make our meetings more fun and crafty and gamey.
· Our cookie booths are scheduled, thanks to Sylvia:
Fry’s, 2/27 and 3/14
Safeway 3/13
Basha’s 3/14

· We created our Family Fun jars at the meeting. This can be used as one requirement for the Family Living Skills Badge (found only online!) for Juniors or the All in the Family try-it for Brownies. To get this badge, your brownie will need to finish 3 more things and juniors will need 5. Most of these are very easy.
· We have our Thinking Day event down in Phoenix, on February 6th, 9-3. France is our theme, and we talked about simple costumes. I will get more details out soon.
· I read in the paper last weekend how many of our state parks are closing due to budget deficits. Riordan Mansion in Flagstaff will be closing Feb 22nd! Would anyone like to go up on Feb 15th for a tour? No school that day!!! Girl scouts have a patch for it. I’ll see if we can schedule a tour.
· I am thinking about signing us up for an overnight camp at the Phoenix Zoo on May 15th. We’d get to work on our animal/wildlife badge/try-it.

COOKIES!!

COOKIES...COOKIES...COOKIES!!!
Ok, we had our first cookie selling event yesterday and we are gearing up for more. Sylvia and I will putting together our plan for our activities for the rest of the year. I will also be updating our calendar, etc.
I have also added a link to a door hanger that I made for Molly, for those pesky cookie customers who aren't home. :)
